Question:

I rented a big room to do business with my partner. If I pay for renting from haram money (doubtful), then my partner will teach pupils there. income will be divided equally. Will my part of my income be halal?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The earnings from the business should not be used until the amount of haram money that was invested is returned to its rightful owner or their pardon is sought, if that is not possible then the amount should be given in charity.1 Once the amount is given in charity the earnings will be Halal.2
