Who Do I Ask My Questions About Islam too?

Answer:

Assalam Alaykum

I pray you are doing well insha’Allah.

Following Qualified Scholarship

Muslims are required to follow the Sharia, which is based on the Quran and the sunna. The legal schools of law called the madhāhib that are transmitted to us generation after generation represents the preservation of the Sharia.

As long as an imam/scholar or shaykh follows one of the legal schools, they could be consulted. One should be careful, though, as not every imam is rightly guided! One of my teachers once remarked that the only way to avoid going astray and be rightly guided is to seek knowledge. So seek knowledge from those who took it from other scholars directly and who follow the Quran and the sunna and the way of our scholars, i.e., the Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi, and Hanbali schools.
