Selling ladies jeans and undergarments

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwa.org.au
1) Is selling ladies jeans, tops, shirts and short kutas haram and non-Islamic, as these type of clothes do not provide complete pardah? Also, most of my customers would be non-Muslims.

2) What about sellings ladies and gents undergarments; is it permissible?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1) In principle, it is permissible to sell things that can be used both in a permissible manner and impermissible manner. The clothing items that you mentioned in your query can be used in a permissible manner — i.e. that the woman wears such clothes inside her home in the presence of her husband; and they can also be used in an impermissible manner – i.e. the woman wears those clothes outside the home in the presence of ghair mahram men. Therefore, it will be permissible to sell such clothes. If the woman uses the clothes in an impermissible manner, it is her responsibility and act; you will not be sinful.

2) It is permissible to sell ladies and gents undergarments.
