Is It Permissible To Deliver Haraam Food Including Pork for Uber Eats

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Question:

Is it ok to deliver haraam food including pork as u do for Uber eats?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The Shariah is the code of life of the Muslims. Transportation of people and goods is a permissible method of earning a livelihood. The original intention of a Muslim in any occupation should be to earn a Halaal living by having a Halaal job. All actions will be considered by their intended purposes.[1]

If a Muslim has a transport/delivery service and is hired to deliver haraam food that has been bought for ready consumption, then it will be permissible to deliver it as the food has already been paid for and does not belong to the driver or owner of the delivery service. This will not be considered as aiding in the disobedience of Allah because there was no free delivery nor any encouragement from the delivery service to the person buying the Haraam food.

The delivery will be considered as a job and is separate from the food itself thus it will be permissible, the person buying and consuming the Haraam food will be responsible for their own actions.
