Is it possible to see a past Prophet in a dream?

Question

Is it possible to see a past Prophet in a dream? Also, are there any authentic sources describe the physical appearance of Prophet Nuh?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

It is indeed possible for someone to see a past Prophet in a dream. It may be such that the Prophet introduces themself or one may feel in their heart that the person they saw was so and so Prophet.

That said, there is no absolute certainty that the person seen in the dream is that Prophet, unless it be the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and give him peace).

This is because the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Whoever has seen me in a dream has certainly seen me; for indeed Satan cannot take my form.” [Muslim]

That said, seeing a previous Prophet, all though absolute certainty cannot be reached as confirmation, it is a good sign and a glad tiding to see any of the righteous, especially a Prophet, in one’s dream.

As for the description of Prophet Nuh (Allah bless him), I was unable to find anything.

Hope this helps

Allah knows best
