A query regarding the du’a when visiting the sick

Question

Is this a Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)?

Regarding sickness, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Nothing to worry. It is a purifier.”

Answer

This is actually a du’a Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would recite when visiting a sick person.

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported: “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) visited a sick villager, and whenever he would visit the sick he would recite the following du’a:

لاَ بَأسَ طَهُورٌ إنْ شَاءَ اللهُ

La ba’sa tahurun insha Allah

Do not grieve, insha Allah through this sickness you will obtain purity (from your sins)

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3616. See here)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
