Q. Where should the Saffs of children in the Masjid commence? If the Saffs of adults joins with the Saffs of the children, will it be considered leaving gaps between people in Salaah?
A. Children should form their rows (Saffs) behind the possible number of rows (Saffs) that will be formed by adults in a Masjid. If however, the rows (Saffs) of the adults increase, then the rows (Saffs) of the adults should form in-line or behind the rows (Saffs) of the children. In this case, this formation will not be considered to having kept gaps in between the rows (Saffs) of Salaah. (Haashiyatut-Tahtaawi-Ala-Maraaqil-Falaah 1/308)
