What is the ruling on transporting a corpse from one country to another country?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. What is the ruling on transporting a corpse from one country to another country?

A. The deceased should be buried at the location of his/her death. It is Makrooh-e-Tahreemi (highly disliked) to transport the deceased’s body from one country to another country.

More so, in such cases, the Janaazah Salaah etc. is delayed unnecessarily which is not permissible. Unnecessary expenses are undertaken to transport the deceased’s body from one country to another country. At times, people understand that it is necessary for the deceased to be buried at his home location if he passes away in another country. This is totally incorrect and against Shariah.
