Is it permissible to cut ones hair and nails in the state of ritual impurity (Janaabat)?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. On Sunday Morning, I woke up in the state of Janabat. I thought of first going to the barber for a haircut before making Ghusal. Was I correct in thinking so?

A. It is Makrooh (disliked) to cut ones hair or nails in the state of ritual impurity (Janaabat) i.e. a state in which Ghusal is necessary for one to attain purity. It is better to take a Ghusal and gain purity before cutting ones hair or nails. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyya 5/115)
