Attending the funeral of a non-Muslim.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Q. I have heard that as muslims we are not allowed to go to a non muslim’s funeral, but what if the deceased is a relative, friend or neighbour, in this case what is allowable for me?

A. It is permissible (for valid reasons) to attend the funeral of a non-Muslim. However, one must refrain from non Islamic practices or prayers. When there is no valid reason for attending such funerals, one should refrain, since he/she is forced to witness many things that are opposing to Islam.

And Allah knows best.
