Message: Salaam, Can a Muslim leave in their will something for a non-Muslim?

Wa Alaikum Assalaam,

الجواب و بالله التوفيق

Yes, a Muslim can leave something in his will for a non-Muslim. The amount left must not be more than 1/3 (one third) of the value of one’s estate, and the ‘will’ must be separate from the inheritance left by the Muslim which will be divided among the rightful heirs (family members) who are Muslims.
