Courtship In Islam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Question: Assalamu Alaikum,

I am a Muslim woman just nikah to my husband, however, he is involved with someone else and he has intentions to nikah her. But he treats her better than me. Tell me is there anything like courtship in Islam out of marriage? Also, if he is to take her up as his second wife, isn’t he supposed to treat us equally?

Answer: Assalamu Alaikum,

‘Courting’ or ‘Courtship’ is not permissible in Islam. This is totally haram. One cannot carry on a relationship outside marriage in this way. If he takes up a second wife then it is compulsory upon him to treat both of you equally.

And Allah Knows Best.
