Maulana Saab, I am in India currently and came across one question. Please guide me in this issue.
There is non-Muslim couple here living together for last 12 years. But they have not had any physical relation for last 10 years. Now if one of them accepts Islam what will be the status of their marriage?
Please guide me on this issue.

Answer
If the husband embraces Islam and the wife is from the people of th book (a Christian), they will be allowed to stay together. In other cases, Islam should be presented to the other person, if accepted, they can remain together and in the case of refusal, separation will be necesary.
If the wife embraces Islam, she will have to remain separated for 3 menstruations. After that, she can get married to who she likes.
