Intimacy with one’s wife during pregnancy and after childbirth

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it prohibited to have sex during pregnancy?

After child birth, is there a specific time period to avoid sex?

Bismillaah

A: No.

For the duration of post natal bleeding it is prohibited. There is no limit to the minimum duration. The maximum can be up to 40 days. Whatever the period is, after the period of bleeding the woman should take a fardh ghusl and start off all obligations, namaaz, Quraan recitation, etc.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
