Hiring an Imaam who does not follow a mazhab

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Can we employ an Imaam who doesn’t follow the four most prominent mazhabs as the Imaam of the musjid? Can we perform salaah behind this Imaam and would it be valid? Can the non mazhab Aalim teach in a Hanafi madrasah?

Bismillaah

A: Why employ someone from whom you can expect differences.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
