Raising the index finger in tashahhud

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Do we need to move the finger or just raise it while reciting tashahhud?

Bismillaah

A: According to the Hanafi Mazhab, one will raise the finger and thereafter lower it. The index finger will be raised at the time one recites “Ashhadu alla ilaaha” and be lowered at the time one recites “illallah”.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
