Issues pertaining to Taharah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have a few problmes related to taharat and cleanliness.

1- if you have a wet dream and your underwear has an area covered with semen but your pyjamas have a couple of drops and you are not sure whether those drops have touched your bedsheet or not, will that bedsheet be considered clean?

2- mostly at times, after peeing, i get this feeling that something has come out of my penis. it happens once and when i touch it or rub it, then it does not come out again. i dont know whether its the urine stuck inside or whatever, so should i treat it as clean or what?

please advise.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Hereunder are the answers to your queries:

(1)  In principle, if one has a wet dream, it will be incumbent on him to wash the soiled area of the clothing. If the bedding is not soiled, one will not have to wash the bedding.

(2)  The liquid that exits the body after relieving one’s self is urine. After relieving yourself, it is necessary for you to practice istibraa.

Istibraa is taking the appropriate actions to ensure all urine has exited the body.

The most effective way to of doing Istibraa is to place one’s fingers on the area just below the scrotum and press that area while moving one’s hand upwards. One should continue doing this several times, until all the remaining drops of urine are discharged from the urethra. Different people need to adapt different methods depending on their personal situation. [i]
