Three pledges that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) took from Sahabah

What is the status of the following Hadith?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Who will pledge allegiance to me on these verses [In Surah Al An’am, verse 151],

  1. that you do not associate any partners with Him
  2. that you are good to your parents
  3. that you do not kill your children fearing poverty

Whomsoever fulfills this allegiance, then his reward lies with Allah and whomsoever falls short Allah will take him to task in this world. If Allah does not take him to task in this world then his matter lies with Allah. If He wishes he may forgive him or He may punish him”

Answer

Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Ubadah ibn Samit (radiyallahu ‘anhu). He has declared the Hadith authentic and Hafiz Dhahabi (rahimahullah) concurs.

(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 2 pg. 318)

Many Mufassirun have also cited this Hadith in their books under the Tafsir of these verses.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
