Reciting Surah Ikhlas ten times after Fardh Salah

What is the status of the following narration and can we practice on it?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whomsoever does the following three actions with Iman, will enter Jannah from whichever door he wishes and will be married to the Maidens of Jannah when he wishes,

1) Whoever forgives his murderer,

2) Fulfills a debt secretly

3) and recites Surah Ikhlas ten times after Fard Salah.

Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) then asked, ‘What about doing one only’?. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied, ‘Even if you do one only [you will attain this reward]’

Answer

The Hadith in question is recorded by Imam Abu Ya’la and Imam Tabarani (rahimahumallah) on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu ‘anhu) with a weak chain.

(Musnad Abu Ya’la, Hadith: 1794, Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 3385. Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 6 pg. 301/2 and vol. 10 pg. 102. Also see Tahdhibul Kamal, vol. 21 pg. 515 -4313-, Tahdhibut Tahdhib, vol. 7 pg. 500 and Mizanul I’tidal, vol. 3 pg. 236 -5900-)

The Hadith is suitable to practice upon, despite it’s weakness, as is the case with weak narrations generally.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best
