The du’a that is commonly recited at Sehri/Suhur

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

We were taught to recite the following at the time of sehri/suhur. Is it from the Hadith?

Bi sawmi ghadin nawaytu

Answer

This is not a du’a, but an intention that was worded in Arabic by the scholars as a suggested format.

These are not words that have been taken from the Hadith.

Despite that, there is no harm in reciting it or anything else when making the intention to fast.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
