Is this Hadith authentic?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whatever in great quantity intoxicates, its small quantity is [also] haram/impermissible.”

Answer

Imams Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah (rahimahumullah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir ibn ‘Abdillah (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1865 and Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 3673 and Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 3393)

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith sound (hasanun gharib).

Similar wordings have also been reported on the authority of other Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum).
