Answer
Translation
Sayyiduna ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu’anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:
Any man who suppresses his desire will be forgiven by Allah Ta’ala.
The Muhaddithun have ruled this a fabrication.
(La-alil Masnu’ah, vol.2 pg.322, Tanzihush Shari’ah, vol.2 pg.287 & Tadhkiratul Mawdu’at, pg.151)
واقتصار العراقي على تضعيفه فقط، لا ينافي هذا، لأنه يطلق لفظ الضعيف على ما هو شديد الضعف أو الموضوع أحيانا
However, undoubtedly for one to sacrifice his/her desires, is a great achievement and an essential path to reformation. There are several other encouragements for this in the Quran and Hadith.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
