Is this Hadith authentic?
Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) once made a gesture to show that Sayyidah Safiyyah (radiyallahu ‘anha) was short or she said that Sayyidah Safiyyah was short. In response to this, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘You have uttered such a statement, if it had to be mixed into the ocean it would have spoiled the ocean.’
Answer
Imam Tirmidhi and Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahumallah) have recorded this narration. Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has graded the Hadith authentic (hasanun sahih).
