In a previous question you said that what the Taliban did (destroying the idols in Afghanistan) was wrong and un-Islamic. Please could you explain using evidence why this is so.

Many muslims have said that what they did was right and this was practiced by many prophets e.g. prophet Muhammed(pbuh) when he destroyed the idols in the Kabba. They say this is an Islamic duty especially in Afghanistan were there are majority Muslims and they are trying to implement Islamic laws.

Answer

To this best of our knowledge, we have never issued such a statement that
Taliban did wrong in breaking the idols and statues at Bamiyan.

Kindly provide us with the full correspondence to the referred question. In
