Is It Sunna to Marry during the Month of Shawwal?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: Is it true that the month of Shawwal is recommended for getting married as Aisha (Allah be pleased with her) married that month?
Would it be considered Sunna?

Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

According to the Hanafi School, it is permitted to marry during the month of Shawwal. [Ibn `Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar `ala al-Durr al-Mukhtar, quoting the Bazzaziyya]

Some of the other schools, however, have stated than marrying in this month is a recommended sunna due to the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) marrying Sayyida `A’isha therein.

And Allah alone gives success.

wassalam,
