Q: There’s a car tracker company that charges R1400 installation fee. Thereafter R120 monthly. If one’s car gets stolen then this company gives you the amount that your car is valued at in cash. On the condition that if your car is found (whatever the condition of your car) you will have to return all the money that they gave you within 14 days. And interest is then charged for each day if later than 14 days. Would getting a car tracker via this company be permissible?
A: This is a type of insurance and gambling.
