Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani
Sometimes, there is a just little blood that comes out of my gums during prayer. If I swallow this, does it invalidate my prayer?
Walaikum assalam,
In the name of Allah, the inspirer of truth. All praise is to Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate, and all blessings and peace to our Master Muhammad, his family, companions, and those who follow them.
A little blood (which is such that if you spat out, the spit would be yellowish, nor reddish) does not invalidate one’s wudu. Swallowing it would not invalidate the prayer.
In the Fatawa al-Hindiyya [Kitab al-Salat, fi ma la yufsiduha], it states:
“If one swallows blood that came out from one’s gums, the prayer is not invalidate, unless it is a mouthful,as mentioned in Fatawa Qadikhan, al-Khulasa,and al-Muhit.”
And Allah alone gives success.
Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani.
