Can I Do Charity Work on Behalf of My Non-Muslim Family?

Question

I’m a convert, and my family is non-Muslim. Is it permissible to plant trees or donate to building mosques on their behalf while they are still alive? What about after they die?

Answer

Yes, it is permissible to donate the reward of good deeds or charitable works to seek their guidance and worldly good while alive.
