Prostration of Recitation During a Group Qur’an Class

Question: Is it wajib on all students of a hifz (Qur’an memorization) class to perform a sajdah when a fellow student reads a verse that necessitates a prostration of recitation? 

Answer: Assalamu alaykum,

Thank you for your question. If during the class, the student consciously heard the verse of prostration, it is wajib to prostrate, If they didn’t hear it, even if they were later informed, they do not need to prostrate. If one wanted to prostrate anyways, there would be no harm in that. For more information, see the links below.
