Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Assalam alaikum wa rahmatullah. I take diet pills which suppresses one’s appetite as well as gives energy. My question is during Ramadan would it be okay to take these pills with suhoor or would it be haram because it would prevent me from being hungry?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

Such pills would be permitted to take–before Fajr time enters–without any legal dislikedness (karaha).

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
