Are there any scholars of the Shafi’I school that say that dog filth is medium filth?
In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
I don’t know of any position in our school stating that dog filth is medium filth, and Allah knows best. However, scholars in other schools have much debate about dog filth. For instance, Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, states that dogs are pure and that washing oneself after being licked is not due to its filth, but rather because we are commanded to do so.
السؤال :هل هناك من علماء الشافعية من يقول بأن النجاسة الكلبية نجاسة متوسِّطة؟
الجواب: لا أعلم قولاً في مذهبنا يجعل نجاسة الكلب نجاسة متوسطة، والله أعلم، لكن للعلماء من غير مذهبنا خلاف طويل في نجاسة الكلب؛ فالإمام مالك رحمه الله يعدُّ الكلب طاهراً والأمر بالغسل من ولوغه إنما هو للتعبد لا لنجاسته.
