Is it wrong to like knowing the proofs behind the rulings

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Amjad Rasheed

Is it wrong or ignorant for the lay person to like knowing the evidences behind legal rulings? I like doing so because it increases me in my conviction of the ruling and it makes me more eager to learn and act based on those rulings if I know the proof behind them. However, my question comes because I read some scholars say that whoever wants to know the proof behind the ruling and they are not educated then they are ignorant.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
