Pausing the ACLS in Hopeless Cases

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Darul Iftaa Jordan
What is the ruling on not conducting the advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) procedure in hopeless cases?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all of his family and companions.

Sharia urges on making use of medication for the Prophet(PBUH) said (What means):” Make use of medical treatment, for Allah has not made a disease without appointing a remedy for it, with the exception of one disease, namely old age. [Related by Abu Dawood].

Besides, doctors are obliged to apply all possible procedures that help in conducting the ACLS. However, if they were sure that there was no hope in the conduction of ACLS or healing, then removing the it is permissible. And Allah knows best.
