Blood Discharged during Menstruation Period Indicates its Continuity

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Darul Iftaa Jordan
I heard that the bright-colored blood discharged within the menstruation period and which sometimes ceases for a half-day, a day or two has nothing to do with menstruation. May I pray during this period since the blood isn't dark-colored indicating the continuity of the period?

Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all of his family and companions.

The blood discharged of a woman`s womb indicates that she is in menses regardless of its color. This is so long as it continued for no less than 24 hours andno more than 15 days, and whether the bright-colored bloodwas discharged before or after the dark.

Therefore, a woman who had experienced the aforementioned should abide by the rulings of Sharia as to that which is unlawful for a menstruating woman to do. Moreover, she shouldn`t pray during that period, butwhen the blood ceases, she is permitted to perform prayers. And Allah knows best.
