Passing away on Thursday and being buried at night

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. If a person passed away during the day on a Thursday but was buried at night, does the person get the benefit of passing away on a Friday?

A. The glad tidings for one passing on a Friday is mentioned in several narrations. Sayyiduna Abdullah Bin Amr Radhiyallah Anhu reports that he heard Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam saying:

“Whoever passes away on the day of Jumuah or on the night of Jumuah, they will be saved from the trials of the grave” (Musnad Ahmad)

Accordingly, these and other similar narrations refer to anyone who passes away between the sunset of Thursday until the sunset of Friday. It does not refer to one passing away during the day of Thursday and being buried during the night of Thursday.
