There is no prophetic instruction regarding entrance into a new house. But in order to seek blessings and to protect oneself from evil and vice, if someone plans to use it then it would be allowed. Reciting the Koran with household members is not wrong but to invite all the people and have a ceremony is not founded.

In some prophetic traditions it has been reported that the verse of ‘sura baqara’ is good for protection from Satan and evil spirits. Therefore, a person should recite these verses three times out loud three days in a row and hope that whatever evil spirits where there would be gone. To have a new home is a big bounty, and people invite others to celebrate, it is okay to have such gatherings. But this should not be in the form official ceremony.
