I have seen some people performing Salaat in a very strange manner, they spread their legs out as wide as possible and stick their elbows straight out as if they are performing some sort of physical exercise for some kind of sport, is it allowed to spread your legs out totally in Salaat and join your toes with the toes of the people next to you and join your elbow with the elbows of the people next to you? They claim this is the shafii method of praying please clarify.
It is not proper to spread feet during the prayer. The jurist have suggested that the distance between the 2
feet during the prayer should only be of four fingers or one span unless there is some excuse. To attach your elbow to another person or to stick to him is not right people should be close to each other but not be touching.
