What say ulema of deen about the right way of sending the reward to the dead people?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org
What say ulema of deen about the right way of sending the reward to the dead people? I recite quran for my deceased husband but, besides that, what kind of an intention should I have feeding people? Can I also, send reward to him by spending money? How could that be? (USA)

The quran should be recited in the right way, feed those people who are needy or either give them money, and make the intention before hand that whatever that was recited or that was contributed of food or money the reward of all of that should be sent to so and so. So, if someone makes this type of dua orally it would suffice. However, one must refrain from all sorts of innovations and cultural norms which are not in religion.
