 WE THE PEOPLE OF MASJID ANNOOR COMMITTEE MEMBERS WOULD LIKE TO ASK THE ISSUE OF BUYING INSURANCE FOR THE MASJID ANNOOR IN NORTH AMERICA. PLEASE KINDLY SEND US DETAIL ON THIS MATTER. WE WILL BE VERY

Because of the involvement of factors such as Interest and Gambling, taking out insurance is impermissible in Islam.  Without a binding legal obligation, one is not allowed to take out insurance. If it is up to someone’s discretion to get a mosque insured, one should not take out insurance for this purpose.

 

The amount of money paid as the premium is the only amount which can be utilized in case of an accident. If the money reimbursed by the insurance is more than the amount of premium paid, the difference of that money should be given as Sadaqah to a person who is entitled to accept Zakat.
