Father told joke with the intention to amuse others and proceeded to name those who had died in order for it to be funny. Would this be considered kufr?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

My father narrated a joke said by another with the intention of amusing others.

My father stated as follows: “Sulaiman said that Allah must have given Malikul Maut a list of kumkotar village because in the last year or so all the following have died.” My father then proceeded to name those that had died. The other person laughed.

Would this be kufr?

الجواب وبالله التوفيق

Performing such an action on purpose with a demeaning intention takes a person to the boundaries of kufr. Therefore the person performing such an action should truly repent and do istaghfar abundantly.
