Is Hijab Necessary to Recite Qur’an, Send Blessings on the Prophet, or Make Supplications?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Question: Is it necessary for a woman to wear hijab when reciting the Qur’an, sending blessings (salams) on the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be on him), or making supplications (du’a) to Allah?

Answer: In the name of Allah, Most Merciful,

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

No, hijab is not obligatory when alone in these three circumstances; however, it is superior to cover in these situations.

And Allah alone gives success.
