Do I Have to Repeat the Prayer after Finding Out It Was Performed after Expiry?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question

I made an intention to pray Isha and then prayed it. Upon completing the prayer, I rechecked the prayer time and realized that the time of Fajr had already entered long before I prayed (what I thought was) Isha fee waqtihaa.

Do I have to repeat this Isha prayer?

Is the rule the same for other prayers? (e.g., you think you are praying in time, but you’ve missed the time). Also, will this count as makeup (qadha)?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

No, you will not have to repeat the Isha prayer. One can perform the missed prayer (qadha) with the intention of the current (ada) prayer. It is the case with all the other prayers, too. One can perform the missed (qadha) prayer with the intention of the current (ada) prayer. [Ibn ’Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]
