Finding Filth on Clothing After Prayer

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: If one makes wudu and prays, but later finds marks of small amounts of filth in one’s undergarments which was not present before making the wudu, should one repeat one’s prayer or consider the filth to have come out after the prayer? filth on

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

No, you would not repeat your prayers. You would assume that the filth exited after having prayed.

This is due to the established fiqh principle: “Events are ascribed to the nearest possible times.” [Ibn Nujaym, al-Ashbah wa al-Nadha’ir]

And Allah alone gives success.
