How Do I Know Whether Impurities Have Transferred?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Question

I am sure I had some impurity on my hands but I am uncertain if it dried up before touching surfaces and unsure if I touched the door handle. What do I do? Also, would their prayers be accepted if my family doesn’t know about this? Are multiple transfers of tiny impurity droplets or traces possible to get less over time and eventually disappear? Because it’s possibly being transferred throughout the house by family members from contact with wet hands on dry surfaces.

How long will this last I have lost track of where and to who it spread? This is more stressful than when I kept cleaning for Covid as this is affecting my prayers.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

The answer to your question is in this link:
What Is the Ruling regarding the Transference of Impurities?

In short, no impurity has transferred, your prayers and those of your family are sound, and you are not required to keep “track” of impurity. [Tahtawi/Shurunbulali, Hashiyat Maraqi al-Falah]

Please also read this reader on misgivings (waswasa), as it is clear that you suffer from it. It is essential to realize that the difficulty you find yourself experiencing is, unfortunately, self-imposed and not due to the rulings of Islam.

I pray you find assistance in the links above.

Hope this helps
