Q: Can Sajdah Tilaawat be made from a sitting position or do one need to stand up and then go into sajdah?

A: Sajdah Tilaawat can be made from a sitting position.

وركنها السجود أو بدله كركوع مصل وإيماء مريض وراكب ( وهي سجدة بين تكبيرتين ) مسنونتين جهرا وبين قيامين مستحبين ( بلا رفع يد وتشهد وسلام وفيها تسبيح السجود ) في الأصح. (الدر المختار 2/106)
