Question:
Assalamu alaykum. Due to the Corona Virus, I am not allowed to go to the mosques, so I sometimes pray alone at home. I wanted to know if I need to give the adhan and iqama by myself even when I heard the adhan coming from the masjid due to its speakers.
Answer:
Wa ‘alaykum assalam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh.
I pray you are well.
The Adhan is a Sunna
Calling the adhan is an emphasized sunnah (mu’akkada). It would be superior to call the adhan for someone praying alone if he has heard it from the mosque. This would be a non-emphasized sunna. However, calling the iqama for him is an emphasized sunna. (Shurunbulali, Maraqi al Falah, Tahtawi, Hashiya Maraqi al Falah)
I pray that helps.
