How Should I Perform Istibra'(Removing Urine)?

Question: Assalamu alaykum

How should I perform Istibra’ (removing urine)?

I always end up squeezing endlessly , always finding urine and I spend my day checking my underwears.

Answer: Wa ‘alaykum as-salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh

I pray you are well.

I think the best thing for you to do is to

a. stop checking, and

b. stop squeezing.

These two things are making things difficult for you.

Istibraʾ should be quick and easy. Give yourself a gentle shake, wipe with a tissue, and carry on with your life. All the extra precautions and procedures are what make the matter worse. Make things as simple as possible for yourself. That’s all.

I hope that helps.

May Allah grant you the best of both worlds.

Wassalam,
[Shaykh] Abdul-Rahim Reasat
