Do I Need to Make up My Missed Fasts Before next Ramadan?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: I missed 3 fasts in the month of ramadan due to masturbation. Do I need to make up my missed fasts before next Ramadan?

Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

No, it is not a condition of validity to make up your missed fasts (qada’) before the subsequent Ramadan. Similarly, there is no expiation for such a delay.

However, it is generally wise and proper to take care of religious duties as soon as reasonably possible, as long as you don’t have a genuine excuse to do the contrary.
