Prayed without wudu: do I have to perform my makeups before my current prayers?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Sohail Hanif, SunniPath Academy Teacher

I made a big mistake yesterday. I prayed `Asr and Maghrib prayers yesterday thinking I had wudu. It was not until Isha time I realised I had broken my wudu earlier in the day. I thus proceeded by praying qadha for the afore-mentioned prayers. Was this the correct thing to
do?

Yes, you have done the correct thing.

If one has missed six or more prayers that one has to make up then it is not a condition to observe the order between them and the next prayer, i.e. one can pray isha first and then make the others up.

If, however, one has missed less than six then one does have to observe the order and make them up before the current prayer. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]
