Clothes from Pig Skin

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Is it legal to wear clothing which is partly made of the skin of pig? In this case it is a jacket, only the external part of the jacket is made of this skin.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The position of the Hanafi school, and that of the vast majority of the fuqaha of our Ummah, is that pig skin remains filthy (najis) even after tanning.

As such, it is impermissible to wear shoes or clothing from pigskin, and prayer in such items would be invalid.

And Allah alone gives success.

Walaikum assalam,
Faraz Rabbani.
